So people have been ranting and raving about Too Faced Born This Way Foundation for a hot minute, but in usual style I’m last to the party. I’m a foundation skeptic because I feel like so many have disappointed me in shade range & finishing texture. Jackie Aina, YouTube beauty content creator, worked with Too Faced to improve the shade range in this beloved foundation so it had me asking… What’s really good?
Unlike my usual foundation adventures, I sampled and tried for 3 days before purchasing (thank you for Sephora). I ended up purchasing the foundation & concealer in the shade Maple.
So here’s the tea…
- Compatibility with non Too Faced primer products B+. This duo held up under normal heat & humidity 99.9% of the time of wear with my normal primer from Smashbox. However, the duo broke up in certain areas in oil trouble areas when in extreme Miami heat walking around. Those areas for me are cheek & nose.
- A little bit goes a LOOONNNGG way! This foundation is also easy to blend & comfortable to wear. Oh and the finish is gorgeous and skin like! All-in-all the formulation gets an A+.
- The shade range is solid. I noticed in Sephora that next to the shade range the undertones were also listed. Combination undertones are also available. The website also provides a shade finder, which is quite a useful tool. This aspect of the foundation gets an A as well.
- 35 shades for the foundation and 20 shades in the super coverage concealer.
- The price for the foundation is $39 and the concealer is $29. This duo quite pricey… some other brands will only save you a few bucks, but if you value quality then this will not feel like a waste. I will stand behind the the price with a grade of A.
Overall this foundation had found a special place in my makeup collection & heart! The video will give you more of a visual and this foundation + concealer duo in action. Check it out and subscribe to my YouTube channel for more glam fun!
Are you ready for some glam to get you ready for Valentine’s Day or even a night out with friends? The other week I created this date night look (photo above) on my YouTube channel. I really like this look and it’s pretty easy to wear even if you’re not into too much color. My tip to experiment with more rich/bold eye looks is to balance your overall look with a more neutral lip color. The lip color that I’m wearing is NARS Slow Ride. This is one of my favorites and pretty much the perfect nude (I would toss all of my others to keep this one). Also the formula for a liquid lipstick is so amazing and nothing I have compares to it. The palette I used is only $12 and compared to the colors found in the Huda Beauty Desert Dusk Palette.
Below is the tutorial where I show you how to achieve the look. The great thing is that you can follow at your own speed and it’s like we’re doing our makeup together.

Well Fall is in full swing and along with the change in season comes a change in makeup. During each season I love playing with lip color the most, hence the name of the blog.
I had a subscriber requested a video all about Fall lipstick and of course I was thrilled. From my lipstick collection I fished out and also added a shade or two of colors that are PERFECT for Fall & Winter 2017. While I emphasize that these lip colors are perfect for deeper skin tones they are also flattering for lighter skin tones as well. I also have shades that range from neutral to bold. Watch my lookbook below for more details and below the video are all of the links to shop! Enjoy and don’t forget to visit my YouTube channel and subscribe for more fun 🙂

NYX is one of, if not, my absolute favorite affordable makeup brands. I’m always drawn to their vast selection in lipstick shades. THERE ARE SO MANY!
My latest go-to shade range for lip colors are nudes and moody/muted tones. I think they’re the most sexy and effortless on me. I love the shades offered in the NYX Lip Lingerie collection. You can find nudes and muted hues to create super on-trend makeup looks. NYX originally released this collection early 2016 and I purchased 5 colors alone last year. There was mixed reviews on the formula, but like most liquid matte lipsticks you need to initially take care of your lips.
This year I picked up 3 and it was so hard not to buy more. Side note, I have promised myself that this years I would be a responsible spender and not buy every single thing on impulse. So back to the lipsticks, I purchased the 3 that I know I would wear and adore.
The colors I purchased are: Seduction, Cashmere Silk, and Cabaret Show. Seduction is my favorite! I also recommend After Hours, Bustier, and French Maid, especially for deeper skin tones. Check out my swatches and review in the video below and shop the collection at Ulta Beauty here.
I don’t hide my love for affordable wigs, in fact I celebrate it proudly. I’ve been wearing synthetic lace front wigs for a little over a year and have reviewed a ton in different styles, lengths, and hair colors. I have been able to satisfy my desire to be versatile without breaking the bank or damaging my hair by wearing wigs.
Divatress.com sent me a unit to review and I was overjoyed. Before I speak on the wig, let me reassure you that this site has a TON of affordable wig options, so check them out here.
The first wig I reviewed on my YouTube Channel is the Isis Brown Sugar Lace Front Wig BS219 and you can shop the wig here. I’ve included my list of pros, cons, and styling tips and please watch my un-boxing and try-on as well below.
- Price is $40 super affordable
- Color on the wig is amazing and perfectly blended
- The wig shape is an angled bob with flattering layers.
- The lace on this wig is super soft and blends well!
- Did not have to pluck the part at all. Sometimes the part is too dense and has to be plucked with tweezers.
- Large head friendly!
- I wish the back of the wig was denser.
- The curls fell easy when I picked them apart by hand.
- This wig doesn’t state being heat friendly and says that the hair blend is called human hair style-mix; very confusing.
- I picked out the curls to achieve more volume and desired texture.
- I also sheared the side bang so it will lay perfectly.
- I added my concealer to the part to define it more
Which season do you look forward to the most? For me it’s Fall. There’s not one single thing I dislike about Fall and that’s hard for a picky girl like me. The change in the air brings something alive within me each year, and I can’t help but smile about it. To be honest it’s probably the caffeine that kicks in after the iced pumpkin spiced latte, but oh heck who knows?!?! Speaking of those iced pumpkin spiced lattes, a cult favorite… Fall is full of year-after-year favorites for me that I had to share!
I had so much fun creating this video and sharing my seasonal favorites. I hope you enjoy this and get to know me a little bit more. Don’t forget to let me know some of your favorites too!
